PURPOSE:To unite two members by a simple method to one body by inserting the projection of one member into the groove of the other member and pressing the members to generate plastic deformation. CONSTITUTION:The projection 21 of the member 2 is inserted through the aperture of the member 1 into the groove 12. The two members 1, 2 are pressed from behind. The projection 21 of the member 2 exerted by the strong pressure is plastically deformed and spread laterally to fill the inside of the groove 12 of the member 1. The surfaces of the member 1 and the member 2 contact with each other, then the joining operation is completed and the joined product is finished. The joint strength of the joined product is equal to the strength at which the part of the projection 21 of the member 2 flowed laterally by the plastic deformation is sheared, i.e., the shearing strength of the member 2.
