PURPOSE:To grasp accurately the movement of a reducing roll and to enabling a remote operation by detecting the moving locus of a reducing roll and by displaying on a displaying unit. CONSTITUTION:An edge tool stand 4 to which a reducing roll 3 is fit is placed on a carriage 5, which is fitted on a fitting stand 6. An axis X position detector 10 measuring the moving distance of before and behind (axis X) of the reducing roll is provided on the carriage 5 thereof and an axis Z position detector 11 measuring the moving distance in axis Z direction of the carriage 5 is provided on the fitting stand 6. The output pulses of the axes X and Z position detectors 10, 11 are inputted respectively into an axis X counter 12 and axis Z counter 13. The number of pulses inputted into the axis X counter 12 and axis Z counter 13 are converted into values, i.e., co-ordinates and impressed to a displaying device 14.
