PURPOSE:To make optimum control over a running state attainable, by constituting a damping force variable suspension system so as to control it in selecting plural control modes such as driving comfortableness and grounding property priorities, etc., on the basis of a road state detecting signal. CONSTITUTION:When a car runs on a undulating road surface, a detecting signal DS is inputted into a signal processing circuit 35 from a road state detector 16. The signal porcessing circuit 35 separates springing resonance frequency and a direct current component with each of low- and high-pass filters 36 and 37, and outputs a level signal V to a comparator 39. Also it compares this signal V with a setting level Vr at the comparator 39, and when it is more than the setting level, the circuit 35 outputs a comparative output C to a microcomputer 40 which processes the comparative output C being inputted in accordance with the specified program and judges of whether it is driving comfortableness priority or grounding property priority, determining the control mode, and controls damping force in each shock absorber 3. With this constitution, optimum control over a running state is thus attainable. |
