The voltage converter has a tank which can be flanged onto the metal encapsulation of the switching installation and in which the active system is located, with a high-voltage electrode which surrounds the high-voltage winding coaxially and is connected thereto electrically. In order to develop such a voltage converter with respect to the connection between the end of the high-voltage winding on the high-voltage side and a high-voltage line, in as simple a manner as possible, a plug device (3) is fitted to the high-voltage electrode (2) at the point facing the high-voltage supply line (8), and a plug socket (5) is attached to the high-voltage supply line (8). The plug device (3) engages in an internal recess (4) in the plug socket (5). <IMAGE>
