This method consists in carrying out an optical acquisition of part of the body, such as a fingerprint 2, of the holder of the document in question, in processing 4, 12, 13 the shape acquired in such a way as to digitise it and to code it, to juxtapose the code obtained on the document, whether visibly or otherwise, then, during use of the document, in simultaneously carrying out reading 18, 22 of the part in question of the body of the holder of the document, and reading of the code appearing on the document and in processing one and/or the other of these data items before comparing them 23, with a view to verifying their agreement.
