PURPOSE:To eliminate the transfer of a binder and the lowering in recording density, by providing a layer comprising a composition consisting of particles and a high-molecular substance to one surface of a substrate and roughening the surface of the composition layer by particles and providing a color material layer containing a sublimable dye on said layer. CONSTITUTION:A composition layer 2 consisting of particles and a high molecular substance is formed to one surface of a substrate 1. Particles 4 are contained in the composition layer 2 so as to be exposed to the surface thereof to roughen the same. Further, a color material layer 3 containing a sublimable dye is formed thereon. If thus obtained transfer element is used, the transfer of the binder is completely prevented and recording density is enhanced. Therefore, an image excellent in image quality and density can be obtained.
