Device for storing and transporting items, of the lateral-loading pallet type, for example for bottles of liquified gas. In order to allow an easier dismantling and operation of the closing bars which prevent the unwanted departure of stored items and sliding vertically, along guides for loading and unloading, one end of each guide 4 is tensioned by a spring 7, while at the opposite end, a split (slotted) washer 12 is provided, one convex spherical face of which interacts with a concave face of the corresponding seat 10. The bending of the guide is thus reduced and the dismantling is facilitated despite the effects of inclement weather. <IMAGE>
