PURPOSE:To obtain a high performance printer low in running cost, by melting the wax like ink provided on a substrate by generating arc discharge between the substrate and an electrode to transfer the same to plain paper. CONSTITUTION:A platen, wherein at least the outer peripheral part thereof comprises a metal, is earthed as a conductive substrate 1. An ink wax layer 2 is provided onto said outer peripheral surface and plain paper 3 is introduced onto the ink wax layer 2 and an electrodes 4 are further arranged in close vicinity to the platen. A plurality of the electrodes 4 are arranged on the plane passing the axis of the platen so as to interpose the ink wax layer 2 and the paper 3 between the electrodes 4 and the platen. Voltage is applied between the conductive substrate 1 and the electrodes 4 from a power source 5 to generate arc discharge and the ink wax 2 melted by the heat generated through arc discharge is transferred to the plain paper 3 and a dot 6 is formed to perform recording. |
