According to an embodiment of the present invention, a cell balancing failure protecting device and a method thereof are disclosed. The cell balancing failure protecting device comprises: a cell balancing unit configured to control a balancing resistor and a first switch connected to a battery cell of a vehicle so as to balance the cell; a discharging protecting unit configured to connect or disconnect a line between the battery cell and the first switch through a second switch; and a protection control unit configured to compare whether a cell balancing operation is performed in the cell balancing unit with a discharging voltage applied to both ends of the balancing resistor to control the discharging protecting unit. |
