PURPOSE:To obtain a highly accurate map expanding method enabling a map to be easily expanded by expressing binary picture data by short vectors, and at the time of expansion, expanding the repeat of the X direction by a linear shift of a short vector string in the preceding Y direction. CONSTITUTION:An original map 1 having vertical and horizontal sizes (a), (b) is written in a binary picture data base 3 through a picture input device 2. The data string is registered as a short vector data base 7 by a short vector formation processor 6 on the basis of the format of the set 7a of a data string obtained by setting up the start address of a black dot string in the Y direction and the continuous values of black dots to one vector. Then, the starting point of a part to be expanded in the original map, the sizes a', b' and expanding magnification (p) are applied to the computer. An expansion processor 8 extracts the corresponding data string on a short vector data base 7, expands the data string so that a''=pa' and b''=pb' and outputs the expanded result as an output map 9. Since the set of these short vectors consists of vectors having addresses based upon floating points, the addresses of the expanded map can be calculated by multiplication using an optional magnification p. |
