PURPOSE:To adsorb preferentially Ga in a high concn. aqueous soln. contg. aluminum chloride as a principal component on a resin by using a nonionic MR type resin as the resin. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous soln. contg. aluminum chloride as a principal component is prepd. by treating an Al compound such as Al ore, metallic Al scraps or the like with chlorine or hydrochloric acid, and the aqueous soln. is brought into contact with a nonionic MR type resin to adsorb preferentially Ga contained in the soln. on the resin. By this method, a high concn. soln. of aluminum chloride giving mother liquor from which aluminum chloride is easily deposited after the separation of Ga can be used, and separated Ga has very high utility value because iron is hardly adsorbed together with Ga.
