In order to secure a carrying cord or carrying chain to optical devices such as binoculars or cameras, a plug connection is specified which consists of a sleeve which is sunk into the device and of a plug which is secured to the carrying cord or carrying chain. The plug is elastically deformable in its radial direction, and can thereby be inserted into the sleeve via a constriction. It can be moved freely in the radial direction inside the sleeve, and its axial movement can be fixed in the sleeve by a lock. <IMAGE>
