For a tiltable sliding roof, in particular an upper roof ridge tiltable sliding roof for vehicles with a rigid roof cover which closes a roof opening, rests in the closed position in the plane of the roof and is supported in the region of its front end on guide rails which engage down into the roof opening by means of sliding blocks so as to be pivotable and longitudinally displaceable about an axis running transversely with respect to the direction of travel and on which roof cover drivable, arc segment-shaped extension carriers engage at a distance from its front-end support, which carriers themselves are received in a longitudinally displaceable manner in link guides which are supported displaceably in the guide rails, it is proposed, in order to simplify the drive mechanism and in particular to obtain a lowering movement of the sliding roof cover out of its extended ventilation position into a sliding position, for mechanical stops, catches and lifting-out means to be provided in the case of a single drive means which is continuously driven so as to slide forwards, which mechanical stops, catches and lifting-out means initially cause the arc segment-shaped extension carriers to be driven in alternating succession, when the sliding roof cover is opened, until the sliding roof cover has reached its extended ventilation position, and subsequently bring about locking of the arc segment-shaped extension carriers with respect to the guide rails and at the same time cause the link guides which are assigned to the latter to be driven until the sliding roof cover has reached its lowered displacement position and ...
