PURPOSE:To produce a magnetic head, which has the strength and the hardness improved and is superior in wear resistance, with a good mass-productivity by using a paste including a low-melting point glass powder to join a recording and reproducing magnetic head core and an erasing head core into one body. CONSTITUTION:A recording and reproducing magnetic head core block 1 and an erasing magnetic head core block 2 which trims both sides of a part recorded by the recording and reproducing magnetic head are allowed to face each other, and nonmagnetic materials such as a calcium titanate or the like are interposed as an intermediate spacer 3 between them to join them into one body; and in this case, a low-melting point glass powder paste 7 is screen-printed on both faces of the spacer 3 and is sintered in atmospheric oxygen to form uniform low-melting glass layers without air bubbles on both faces of the spacer 3, and said core blocks are allowed to face each other with this spacer between them, and they are joined by melt-sticking due to heating in a vacuum furnace. In another method, low-melting glass layers 7 and 7 are provided on faces of core blocks 1 and 2 which face each other, and they are joined without the intermediate spacer. Thus, the high-reliability head which is superior in strength, hardness, and wear resistance is obtained. |
