PURPOSE:To obtain a detector with a better airtightness, an excellent cooling efficiency and an improved service life by joining an input window and an external container airtight with a frit seal to prevent fine cracks. CONSTITUTION:After the joint surfaces between an external container 2 and an input window 4 comprising sapphire or the like is cleaned up sufficiently, one or both thereof are coated with a slurry-like frit glass 9 mixed with an organic binder and then, the surfaces are put together. They are heated and sealed complying with a temperature schedule determined according to the frit glass used applying a proper load thereto. The frit glass herein used shall be as large as 15X10<-7>/ deg.C in the difference in the coefficient of thermal expansion of the input window 4 and the external container 2 and has a value in the coefficient of thermal expansion virtually intermediate between the input window 4 and the external container 2. Due to the restriction of an infrared detection element, there will be no high temperature exceeding 200 deg.C in the production process thereby facilitating the frit sealing. |
