An endoscope camera ensures an accurate level of exposure at all times, even when the level of illumination is increased or rises after operating or actuating the release key of the camera. The light-increasing unit (10) is operated by the EP contacts (50) or the M contacts (40) of the camera. A time-delay circuit (52) causes a memory to store a then current exposure value of a prescribed time delay after operation of the light increasing units, in particular after the light output signal has been stabilised at a raised level.
