The invention relates to a disconnectable trailer coupling in which, when the ball-ended rod of the coupling is inserted, the said rod strikes against a locking device and as a result triggers a spring-loaded fixing bolt which engages in a recess in the ball-ended rod and thus brings about locking between the basic body, attached to the motor vehicle, of the trailer coupling and the ball-ended rod. In an embodiment, the position of the fixing bolt can be secured with respect to the basic body of the coupling in the mounted position of the ball-ended rod by means of a further locking device which engages in a locking groove of the fixing bolt and which can be moved relative to the aforesaid locking device.
