PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration in quality due to a low frequency component by separating digital data subjected to A/D conversion into two systems (high and low frequencies) of data, applying polygonal compression to the high frequency data and applying compression with interleaving to the low frequency data to transmit the two systems of compressed data. CONSTITUTION:The original sound signal is separated into the high frequency component data and the low frequency component data (two systems of data) at the boundary of the frequency depending on the frequency characteristic set to a digital filter, the high frequeny component data is given to a polygonal line compression circuit 5 and the low frequency component data is inputted to an interleaving circuit 4 respectively. Each output data of the polygonal line compression circuit 5 and the interleaving circuit 4 is fed to a formatter 6 and a prescribed data format is formed by combining the two systems of input data. The format consists of the frame strings, one frame is formed with a synchronizing word (SYNC) and several data words and transmitted to a transmisson system or a recording system from an output terminal OUT. |
