PURPOSE:To offer a thin profile color display device by adopting an optical fiber assembly where one end is arranged and fixed regularly to a position corresponding to red/green/blue fluorescent thin films at an interval and the other end is arranged regularly with almost close adhesion while being divided into red/green/blue three groups. CONSTITUTION:The end 5 opposite to the display film of the optical fiber assembly 4 is formed by fixing integrally an optical fiber 25 with a plastic 26 in order to arrange and hold regularly and correctly optical fibers 25 to a position opposite to the fluorescent thin film 23. The air gap 27 between the optical fiber assembly end 5 and the display film 3 is selected properly from nearly zero to a distance depending on the relation between the diameter of the optical fibers 25 and the diameter of a fluorescent thin film dot 23 and the display panel and the optical fiber assembly 5 are fixed and held integrally with a mechanism (not shown). The optical fiber can be of plastic group and since the display panel is of flat type, it is manufactured by the print system. Other than an electron tube, a high temperature furnace and an evacuating equipment are not required.
