PURPOSE:To make it possible to measure even an article to be measured low in stiffness without smoothing the surface of the article to be measured, by adding flouid pressure to the electrode closely contacted with the article to be measured. CONSTITUTION:The valve 34 in the side of a cylinder 16 is closed while valves 36, 34 in the side of a cylinder 15 are opened and air is withdrawn from a hermetically closed chamber 29 while oil is supplied to said chamber 29. After the hermetically closed chamber 29 is filled with oil, valves 36, 33 are closed and a pressure resistance testing apparatus 10 is reversed by a motor 43, and the supply of oil and the withdrawal of air of the hermetically closed chamber 29 are similarly performed. Further, the motor 43 is driven to set the apparatus 10 to the original posture. Then, the valves 33, 34 are opened and throttle valves 44, 45 or the apparatus 10 are regulated to apply desired pressure to an article 11 to be measured from the sides of the cylinders 15, 16 and electric resistance, when pressure is variously changed, is read by a pressure resistance measuring instrument to which lead wires 22, 23, 24 are connected. Because fluid pressure is applied to the electrode closely contacted with the article to be measured and this apparatus can be adapted to a rubbery article to be measured low in stiffness.
