The concrete protective coating here should be applied in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions as a support layer which causes silicification between the substrate and the reflection beads which are embedded up to half of their mean size by means of compressed air. A general chemical formula for the silicification reaction cannot be given, since this is taken to mean the totality of a plurality of different chemical reactions based on the polycondensation of the silicate anions to give water-insoluble silicic acid, and on chemical reactions of the potassium silicate with components of the substrate and of the coating glass. This chemically bonded unit is perfectly matched to the substrate with respect to expansion and emission protection, and has good processing properties and is environmentally friendly.
