The invention proposes a device for the play-free support of a shaft operating as a threadless spindle which is supported in a plurality of ball bearings which are set obliquely to the longitudinal axis of the shaft and contact the circumference of the shaft at different points. In this arrangement, the shaft is guided on its circumference in the manner of a three-point bearing by three groups of ball bearings, one group of bearings interacting under spring pressure with the shaft while the other two bearings act as fixed bearings and are arranged on both sides of the group of bearings. <IMAGE>
