A collapsible filter basket adapted to be introduced into a blood vessel of a patient, and comprising a plurality of resilient wires (2) interconnected (4) at their respective ends, characterised in that in its expanded and relaxed state the basket (1) assumes the shape of an apertured, elongate solid of revolution with pointed ends, and that the length of the basket, as measured between said ends, is at least equal to the maximum diameter thereof. |
