The invention relates to a customary two-compartment milking cup having a negative pressure relief valve which is opened by the reduction in negative pressure taking place during the relief cycle in the cup sleeve and then allows air to flow into the suction nozzle, two spreading elements (7, 9), which are located diametrically opposite each other and form a spreading body (14) for the teat rubber (3), being moulded onto the suction nozzle/clamping body (6, 12). In the suction phase, the teat rubber (3) rests against the free ends of the spreading elements (7, 9) and, in the relief phase, gaps arise between the teat rubber (3) and the free ends of the spreading elements. A duct (8, 10) is provided which, at one end, leads to the atmosphere and, at the other end, opens out into the interior (11) of the teat rubber. The innovation is seen in the fact that the negative pressure relief valve is formed by the two spreading elements (7, 9) which interact with each other and at least one of which is resiliently deflectable, and which, on the one hand, are supported on one another when pressurised by the tubular teat rubber (3) and thereby close the valve and, on the other hand, spring apart when the pressure is relieved by the collapsed teat rubber (3) and thereby open the valve (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
