The process comprises passing zircon granules of average mesh size of 50-100 micron through a reactor and heating it to a temperature higher than the melting point of silica, but lower than that of zirconium dioxide. There, the granules, having passed the seactor, becomes discrete particles, the residence time of the granules in the reactor being less than 10 second. |
