PURPOSE:To manufacture directly flaky metallic powder which is mixed with paint or the like by feeding metallic powder to a part where flows of hot gas spouted from nozzles meet each other to form droplets of molten metal by melting, rolling the droplets with a pair of rolls, and solidifying them by rapid cooling. CONSTITUTION:Flows of hot gas such as oxygen-propane flames are spouted from plural nozzles 2 arranged along the side of an imaginary cone having the vertex at the lower part. Metallic powder having a desired composition is fed to a part where the flows meet each other to form droplets of molten metal by melting. The droplets are rolled with a pair of a rotating rolls 3, solidified by rapid cooling, scraped away woth blades 6, and recovered as flaky metallic powder. Thus, metallic powder having superior performance as a starting meterial for electromagnetic shielding paint or the like is obtd.
