POLYMER COMPOSITION AND VIBRATION DAMPER

PURPOSE:A polymer composition that is composed of a 4-methyl-1-pentene polymer of a specific intrinsic viscosity and a polyisobutylene elastomer, thus providing vibration dampers markedly improved in damping performance with high heat resistance and processability. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is obtained by mixing (A) 100pts.wt. of a 4-methyl-1-pentene polymer with an intrinsic viscosity of 1-5dl/g, a homopolymer or a copolymer thereof with 0.5-4mol% of an alpha-olefin, with (B) 20- 200pts.wt. of a polyisobutylene elastomer of more than 90mol% isobutylene content and 0.6-3dl/g intrinsic viscosity (measured in diisobutylene at 20 deg.C). The vibration damping material therefrom has a heat distortion point above 100 deg.C, elasticity loss factor at 25 deg.C of 0.06 or more and dynamic elasticity factor of more than 1X10<9>dyn/cm<2>.
