PURPOSE:To attain high bonding force in the thermal bonding of vulcanized epihalohydrin rubber with each other, by a simple procedure, by using a thermoplastic polyurethane copolymer as the adhesive. CONSTITUTION:The thermal bonding of vulcanized epihalohydrin rubber is carried out by inserting a sheet of a thermoplastic polyurethane copolymer having a thicknes of 0.02-0.5mm. between the rubber sheets, and pressing the sheets usually at 150-250 deg.C and >=50g/cm<2> pressure. The copolymer is preferably the one prepared by reacting (A) a polyether glycol with (B) a diphenyl diisocyanate compound and (C) a free 2-6C saturated aliphatic glycol having OH group bonded to the terminal C atom, in such a manner that there is no residual unreacted glycol nor diisocyanate in the reaction product. |
