PURPOSE:To provide the titled composition composed of a cyanic acid ester (or its prepolymer), a maleimide (or its prepolymer) and an epoxy resin reacted preliminarily with a secondary or tertiary amine, having good processability and workability and giving a cured product having excellent heat resistance, etc. CONSTITUTION:A pre-reacted epoxy resin (A) is prepared by reacting (i) an epoxy compound such as a bisphenol-A epoxy compound having >=2 epoxy groups in the molecule preliminarily with (ii) a secondary or tertiary amine such as 2-methylimidazole, N-methylpiperidine, etc. in a solvent, etc. The weight ratio of (i):(ii) is preferably (0.01-4):100. The objective composition can be prepared by mixing (A) the obtained epoxy resin with (B) a prepolymer of a polyfunctional cyanic acid ester or amine containing >=2 cyanato groups, e.g. 1,3-dicyanatobenzene and (C) a maleimide prepared by the dehydrative cyclization of maleic anhydride with an amine.
