摘要 PURPOSE:To provide a porous glass packing material suitable for a high-speed liquid chromatography device by specifying the average diameter of the pulverous porous sodium borosilicate glass particles consisting of specific components within a specific range and treating the particle surfaces with a silane coupling agent. CONSTITUTION:The pulverous porous sodium borosilicate glass particles consisting of the ternary components of SiO2, B2O3 and Na2O. The average diameter of such pulverous particles is 0.1-30mum and the particle surface is treated with the silane coupling agent. The pulverous porous glass particles havng 0.1-30mum average diameter is obtd. by subjecting the phase separable sodium borosilicate glass consisting of the ternary components of SiO2, B2O3 and Na2O to a heat treatment to separate the phases then eluting away at least part of the acid soluble phase by an acid elution treatment to obtain the porous glass particles and subjecting such glass particles to a pulverizing operation and a classifying operation. The pulverous particles are produced by the method for treating the surface of such particles with the silane coupling agent.
