PURPOSE:To eliminate control operation responding to season and to fully automate operation of a fan motor, by a method wherein a memory means which stores a detecting signal from a sensor, is provided, and a reference signal is set based on a detecting signal stored in the memory means. CONSTITUTION:The electric resistance value of a sensor 4 proportioning the degree of contamination of the air is converted into a voltage by a signal voltage generating circuit 5. The voltage is converted into a detecting signal V through the working of an A/D converting circuit 6 to input the result to a CPU7. The CPU7 carries out sampling of the detecting signal V from the sensor 4 with a specified time interval, and the result is stored as data in a RAM8. The data of the detecting signals V are stored, in order, in the RAM8, and the unupdated data of the detecting signal V is discarded, and the data of the latest detecting signal V is stored in the RAM8. Based on the memory data of the detecting signal and data for setting a reference signal stored in a ROM9, the reference signal V is set, and this even if the temperature and humidity of the air are changed, completely eliminates adjustment operation of the reference signal V.
