PURPOSE:To provide a format with universality by sending out together position data on a character frame where a character is entered when an absolute position is indicated by a mode selecting means, and performing processing similarly to case of normal keyboard input when a relative position is indicated. CONSTITUTION:When the character at an absolute value is inputted, a flag 51 is set with a command and position data specifying an input frame on a tablet is stored in a table 52. When a handwritten character is inputted, recognition processing is carried out if calculated character position data corresponds to the input frame. Then, the flag is set to add an identification code to character position data which is obtained by a frame position calculation processing and stored in a buffer 43, thereby sending the result to a data processor and also sending a recognized character code. The data processor inputs corresponding position data on the basis of the character position data and performs allocation.
