The present invention relates to a steel material for an oil tool having high strength and high toughness, and a manufacturing method thereof. More specifically, the present invention relates to the steel material for the oil tool having uniform high strength and high toughness per position since hardness and mechanical property deviation per position is low. Provided are the steel material for the oil tool having high strength and high toughness and the manufacturing method thereof, wherein the steel material of the present invention comprises: 0.28-0.33 wt% of C, 0.15-0.35 wt% of Si, 0.60-1.00 wt% of Mn, 0.025 wt% or less (excluding 0 wt%) of P, 0.025 wt% or less (excluding 0 wt%) of S, 1.60-2.00 wt% of Ni, 0.70-1.10 wt% of Cr, 0.30-0.50 wt% of Mo, 0.015-0.050 wt% of Al, 0.05-0.10 wt% of V, 0.005-0.015 wt% of Ti, 0.010-0.040 wt% of Nb, 0.0035-0.0150 wt% of N, 2.0 ppm or less of H_2, and the remaining consisting of Fe and inevitable impurities. The steel material for the oil tool has high strength and high toughness by forming a matrix in tempered martensite and a micro precipitate (carbonitride). |
