PURPOSE:To obtain a linear motor conveyor which has high reliability by forming air gap maintaining means between a stator and a movable element of magnetic retaining means and pneumatic bearings. CONSTITUTION:When an article 3 to be conveyed is placed on a truck 2 and a drive power is supplied to a linear motor movable element 4 provided in the truck 2, the truck 2 moves oppositely to a linear motor stator 6 laid on the ground. In this case, magnetic retaining means 11 of permanent magnets 11a- 11d contacted in parallel are provided in parallel with the ground side of the truck 2, and pneumatic bearings 12 disposed toward the ground side are provided at the centers of the respective magnets 11a-11d. Thus, in order to maintain a gap between the movable element and a stator at the prescribed interval at the driving time, compressed air is fed to the gap from the bearings 12a-12d to repel the attracting force due to the means 11 to provide spring force against the ground. |
