MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a long-life magnetic recording medium which decreases spacing loss, stabilizes short wavelength output and lessens drop-out by forming thinly a plasma-polymerized film of which the change of weight by heating arises at >=2 stages on a thin ferromagnetic metallic film. CONSTITUTION:A soft magnetic layer 2 consisting of an Ni-Fe film, etc. and a vertically magnetizable film 3 consisting of the thin ferromagnetic metallic film such as Co-Ni, Co-Cr or Co-Ni-P are formed on a substrate 1 such as polyester, polyimide and thereafter the plasma-polymerized film 4 consisting of polychlorotrifluoroethylene, polyvinylidene fluoride or alkyl methacrylate is formed on the film 3 by selecting >=2 kinds of substrate temp. in the stage of forming the film 4 or changing discharge frequencies so as to have >=2 stages at which the change of weight arises hardly even if the temp. changes. The magnetic recording medium having the lubricity which is maintained even if the temp. is locally increased by the high-speed sliding contact with a magnetic head and remains good even at a low temp. is thus obtd.
