The present method relates to a sun tracking parasol and a method for driving the sun tracking parasol. One purpose of embodiments of the present invention is to provide a sun tracking parasol which is driven for itself according to movements of the sun, and a method for driving the sun tracking parasol. Other purpose of the embodiments of the present invention is to provide a sun tracking parasol which is capable of smoothly moving the cable by driving the parasol, thereby preventing a cable connecting the roof and the body from being entangled, and a method for driving the sun tracking parasol. A parasol according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes: a roof part which receives light of the sun; a pillar part which supports the roof part; and a body part which is connected to the pillar part to move the pillar part according to the sunlight received by the roof part.
