PURPOSE:To enable reduction in size and adjustment of a branching ratio by forming a main line by melting an optical fiber, forming a branch line of an org. material of which the refractive index changes with heat and providing a resistor film thereon. CONSTITUTION:A V groove is formed by etching in the 110 direction of a substrate 10 having 100 crystal orientation to from the V groove of which the part 11' to be used as the main line 11 has the width to permit imposing of a strand and the part 12' to be used as the branch line 12 has the increased width to permit imposing of the fiber strand in the part toward the periphery depending upon a branching ratio. The fiber strand exposed by removing partly nylon coating is placed in the V-groove along said groove and laser is irradiated thereto to weld the fiber to the substrate thereby manufacturing the line 11. The fiber strand is fixed to the part to be used as the branch line and thereafter the org. material is poured into the V groove between the fiber strand and the line 11 thereby forming the thin resistor film 13 on the branch line. As a result the refractive index of the line 12 is changed by adjusting the current to be passed to the thin film 13, by which the quantity of the light to be branched from the line 11 is changed and the branching ratio is adjusted. |
