PURPOSE:To display invariably the effect of constant shading distortion correction by arranging fixedly a light shield plate for shading distortion correction in front of an image forming lens in the incidence direction of light. CONSTITUTION:The light shield plate 40 for shading distortion correction is arranged and fixed in front of the image forming lens 5 in the incidence direction of light. Then, even if a mirror 3 or 4 slants and an original 10 shifts in relative readout position from a lamp 1 to a home position and a return end side, there is no change between the mirror 4 and lens 5 and the light shield plate 40 arranged between them displays invariably constant correction effect without reference to a subscanning position.
