PURPOSE:To reduce the power to be thrown into a plasma plug thus to improve the utilization of energy by constructing such that high energy discharge is produced between an auxiliary electrode and a ground electrode through plasma jet to cause triggering. CONSTITUTION:A discharge electrode 21a and an orifice 10d are faced in a combustion chamber 24 and set at the arriving position of plasma jet gas 22. At first, spark discharge will occur where the plasma jet gas 22 to be discharged through the orifice 10d is ionized and having high conductivity to bring the space between the discharge electrode 21a and the ground electrode 10b of plasma plug 10 into same condition with dielectric breakdown. Since the charges stored in an auxiliary capacitor are discharged through a gap (10-20mm.) between the diacharge electrode 21a and the ground electrode 21c, the majority of discharge energy can be thrown into the discharge gap resulting in improvement of firing performance of mixture gas. |
