PURPOSE:To display a stand-by state and to prevent an error in input by detecting the stand-by state of a keyboard-side processor at a keyboard side. CONSTITUTION:A processing system body 7 is connected to the keyboard device 1 and a key signal from a key matrix 2 is scanned and detected by a processor 5 to send out key code data from a data line 6. A keying inhibition display control signal line 9, keying inhibition display circuit 10, keying inhibition display control port 11, and keying inhibition period detecting circuit 17 are added to the device. Consequently, a processor 5 scans the key matrix 2 all the time to send out key data and also enters a stand-by state until an ACK signal indicating the reception of the key code data from the main body 7 is detected. This stand-by state is detected by said detecting circuit 17 of the processor 5 to control the display circuit 10 through the port 11 and signal line 9. Then, the keying inhibition period as the stand-by state is detected and displayed.
