PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of a recording operation by allowing execution of a recording operation if the size in housing parts for recording media is larger than the size of the recording medium to be assigned from the outside even when both sizes are different. CONSTITUTION:The housing parts 317, 321 for the recording media in which the plural recording media are housed and the means for storing the size information and recording information of the recording media assigned from detecting means 320, 324 for detecting the medium size in the housing parts for the recording media are provided. The size information of the recording medium from the outside device is compared by the means 320, 324 and when both are the same or the medium size in the containing part for the recording media is larger, the recording based on the storage information in the storage means is executed. The execution of the recording operation is thus permitted if the size in the housing part is larger in the above-mentioned way and therefore the efficiency of the recording operation is improved. |
