PURPOSE:To simplify construction and to enable erasing with high accuracy by using a single magnetic pole type magnetic head consisting of a main magnetic pole to perform recording and reproducing and disposing a monolithic type erasing head in proximity thereto. CONSTITUTION:A core 20 is constituted of a main pole magnetic film 23 of which the front end part performs recording and reproducing by contacting with a recording medium and an auxiliary magnetic pole 24 which acts as a return path part for a magnetic flux. Only the front end part of the film 23 is made slender in order to perform high-density recording and the rear part is made thick. Nonmagnetic materials 26, 26' are packed in the space of the surface to face the recording medium except the film 23 and the magnetic pole 14 to assure protection and wear resistance. On the other hand, a core 21 for erasing is formed with a notched groove to the size at which a prescribed recording track width l2 remains at the center of the part facing the gap. The annular core having erasing gaps of the widths l3, l4 is thus formed. Glass 28 is packed into the notched groove. |
