<p>A heating or cooling device comprises a container enclosing (A) a material which is exothermically or endothermically soluble in water, (B) water and (C) a thickener; and means for sepg. (A) and (B). The use of fused Ca chloride, ammonium nitrate, hydrated Na sulphate, di-Na H phosphate, Na carbonate or Na borate or urea as (A); and a polysaccharide, exudate or xanthan gum, alginate or starch or cellulose prod. a (C) is claimed. The container may be made from a flexible plastics material, e.g. polyethylene, opt. laminated to nylon reinforcement and paper layers. The device heats up or cools down to a more medically acceptable temp. and remains at an elevated or lowered temp. for a longer period than conventional devices. It can be used for heating or cooling the skin for medical purposes.</p> |
