The present invention provides steel having excellent resistibility of brittle crack arrestability and a manufacturing method thereof. According to the present invention, the steel for a thick steel plate for a structure having excellent resistibility of brittle crack arrestability comprises 0.02-0.10 wt% of C, 0.8-2.5 wt% of Mn, 0.05-1.5 wt% of Ni, 0.005-0.1 wt% of Nb, 0.005-0.1 wt% of Ti, and the remainder consisting of Fe and inevitable impurities, and has a microstructure including one structure selecting from a group consisting of a fully ferrite structure, a fully bainite structure, a composite structure of ferrite and bainite, a composite structure of ferrite and pearlite, and a composite structure of ferrite, bainite, and pearlite. According to an aspect of the present invention, the steel for a thick steel plate for a structure having excellent resistibility of brittle crack arrestability has excellent yield strength and an excellent impact transition temperature of a middle portion. |
