PURPOSE:To select an aural message through a telephone by providing a means to an aural message/answer device to decode the dial pulse signal sent from the telephone, and carry out the prescribed control. CONSTITUTION:A rotary controller 2 is actuated by the originating given from a telephone 3, and an aural message/answer device 1 is connected to the telephone 3. Under such conditions, a dial 4 of the telephone 3 is operated to transmit the dial pulses to the device 1. The device 1 counts these pulses and performs the prescribed control according to the count value of pulses. In other words, the contents of an answer message are selected according to the number of dial pulses or whether the contents of the message is received or not at the side of the telephone 3 in terms of a telephone message device is confirmed.
