NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R1 is (protected) amino; Q is N or C-R2 (R2 is H or halogen); R3 is H or (substituted) hydrocarbon group; R4 is H or methoxy; R5 is (substituted) nitrogen-containing aromatic heterocyclic group; A means that substituent group may be present on the pyridine ring; n is 0 or 1], its salt or its ester. EXAMPLE:7beta-[ 2-( 2-Aminothiazol-4-yl )-2(Z)-methoxyiminoacetamido ]-3-[[4-( 1,2,4- oxadiazol-3-yl)pyridinium-1-yl]methyl]-3-cephem-4-carboxylate. USE:Antibacterial agent effective to Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria including Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It has excellent stability, gives high concentration in blood, and keeps its activity for a long period. PREPARATION:The compound of formula II is made to react with the compound of formula III.
