PURPOSE:To enable correct recording to be conducted on a paper with a fixed form, by a construction wherein a recording paper is provided with recording direction information, and a recorder is provided with a detecting means for the information. CONSTITUTION:The recording paper is provided with the recording direction information 10, and is placed in a paper-supplying cassette 2 of the recorder. When the paper is paid out from the cassette 2 by a paper-supplying roller 3, the paper feeding is detected by a paper leading-end sensor 5, the information is detected by a recording direction information sensor 6, and a detection signal is inputted into a CPU through a signal wire, whereby the direction of the paper is judged. When the direction of the paper is correct, recording is carried out in that condition. When the direction of the paper is reverse, backward feeding of the paper, reversing of the paper, backward recording (in the case of a dot printer) or the like is conducted.
