<p>That proteinaceous substance interferon, which has antiviral properties and may also be used in the treatment of cancer, is produced by many types of cell cultures after the addition of an inducer, such as a virus. The amounts of interferon produced in this way can however, vary considerably. The cells from which interferon is produced may be stimulated into producing in this way can however, vary considerably.
