PURPOSE:To record favorable images even on a paper having low smoothness, by a method wherein a thermal transfer recording medium comprising a heat- fusible coloring material layer containing a heat-expandable substance is laminated on a transfer recording sheet such as a paper, heat is supplied in accordance with information, and a coloring material layer component thus melted is transferred onto the sheet under pressure. CONSTITUTION:The thermal transfer recording medium produced by applying the heat-fusible coloring material layer containing a heat-expandable substance (e.g., carnauba wax) to a base consisting of polyethylene terephthalate or the like is laminated on the transfer recording sheet such as an ordinary paper, and thermal energy is supplied in accordance with image information to be recorded, thereby thermally expanding the substance. Under the pressure of expansion, the coloring material layer component thus melted is transferred onto the sheet to obtain a transferred coloring matter image on the sheet, thereby performing recording. |
