PURPOSE:To correct the rotary angular velocity of a feed roll and to keep the peripheral speed, i.e., the feed speed at a correct level, by providing a pulse changing means which changes the cycle of the pulse applied to a stepping motor. CONSTITUTION:A stepping motor 8 divides in frequency a basic clock by a dividing ratio setting circuit 10 and a dividing ratio information signal outputted from the circuit 10. While the motor 8 is driven by a drive system D composed of a divider 11 which produces a dirve pulse signal and a driver 13 which produces a pulse based on the drive pulse signal fed from a power supply 12. For such a recorder, the ideal feed amount is set at 1/8mm./line(=125mum/line) together with the printing cycle T2, i.e., the driving cycle of a pressure means 9 which presses an ink doner film to a thermal head set at 2.4msec respectively. If the actual feed amount is set at 130m/line owing to the variance of the diameter caused by the dust, etc. attached to the surface of a back roll, the cycle T1 of the pulse signal which drives the motor 8 is set at 2.496msec(=2.4X130/125) as shown in the figure. For this purpose, the dividing ratio of the circuit 10 is adjusted. Then the printing is carried out as always.
